The Court of Appeal today (29) took up a motion filed by the Attorney General seeking an order to enforce the prison sentence imposed on Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero, following the revocation of his presidential pardon.

The motion was heard by Justices Mayadunne Corea and Lakmali Karunanayake. Gnanasara Thero was not present in court.

His counsel, President’s Counsel Anura Meddegoda, informed court that he was resting due to illness and requested time to study the motion and make submissions.

State Counsel Sajith Bandara requested that a warrant be issued if the accused failed to appear. The court subsequently adjourned the proceedings for a short period.
