Former state minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, alias Pilleyan, appeared at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (22) to provide a statement regarding the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks, following a Channel 4 documentary.

The investigation, triggered by whistleblower testimonies, alleges senior government officials' complicity in the bombings. Pilleyan, who had previously requested a Tamil language translator, was questioned after the documentary aired on 6 September, 2023. 

He had initially missed his scheduled appearance but complied on 20 November and returned today for further questioning.
