The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has recorded a statement from model and actress Piumi Hansamali, for approximately 2 hours. This was in connection with an investigation related to a photograph found on the mobile phone of the organised crime suspect known by the alias ‘Kehelbaddara Padme’. Reportedly, the photograph includes ‘Padme', Hansamali and several other Sri Lankan actresses.

It is also reported that several phone conversations between 'Padme' and Hansamali were found on his mobile device.

Police stated that the other actresses seen in the photograph will also be summoned and questioned in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the Colombo Crimes Division yesterday (22) submitted a report to the Colombo Magistrate’s Court (MC) regarding the ongoing investigations into the suspect who has been identified as a key suspect in the murder of the organised crime suspect known by the alias 'Ganemulla Sanjeewa', Ishara Sanjeewa.

Sewwandi is currently in custody and being interrogated under a detention order (DO).

Submitting the report to the Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama, the Police stated that a 90-day DO was obtained from the Ministry of Defence to question the suspect, as the investigations are still ongoing and not yet complete.

The Court also informed the Police that the monitoring of the suspect would be handled by the Colombo Fort MC.

Furthermore, the Police informed Court that two more suspects, currently under detention for 90 days, are being questioned for allegedly assisting and supporting Sewwandi.

The Magistrate inquired whether these two individuals were also named as suspects in the Ganemulla Sanjeewa murder case. In response, the Police clarified that they have not been named as suspects in the murder itself, but are being questioned regarding their support to Sewwandi and their involvement in narcotics-related activities.

The Magistrate had then pointed out that the Court does not have the authority to issue orders concerning those two individuals under the current case file. He advised the Police to submit a separate B-report to present facts related to those individuals.

The Magistrate further noted that once such a proper report is submitted, the Court will take necessary steps to issue the relevant orders.

Elsewhere, the businessman who is accused of handling the financial operations of an organised crime suspect known by the alias ‘Loku Patty’ has been remanded until tomorrow (24).

The order was issued by Chief Magistrate Bodaragama when the suspect was presented in court yesterday.

The businessman from Gandara, was arrested on 16 October by the Cyber Fraud Investigation Unit of the Illegal Assets Investigation Division on suspicion of aiding and abetting ‘Loku Patty’.

‘Loku Patty’, is currently in remand custody in connection with the murder of the individual known by the alias ‘Club Wasantha.’

Officials of the CID informed Court that the individual arrested, named Dinesh Kumara, is a businessman who is being held and investigated under the Poisons, Opium and Dangerous Drugs Ordinance and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Police also revealed that accounts containing over Rs. 330 million have been discovered under the suspect’s name, and that he has failed to provide a clear explanation as to how those funds were acquired.

However, the Magistrate pointed out that the report submitted yesterday did not clearly mention under which law the suspect was presented to court.

The Magistrate therefore ordered that the case be recalled tomorrow.

Furthermore, the Magistrate instructed the CID to submit a detailed report to court on that date specifying the exact charges that will be filed against the suspect.
