Sri Lankan athletes Tharushi Karunarathna and Kalinga Hewa Kumarage excelled at the 2024 Reunión Internacional Villa de Bilbao – World Athletics Continental Tour in Spain.

Tharushi Karunarathna set a new continental record in the women's 600m with a time of 1:24.84, surpassing Japan's Ayano Shiomi's previous record. 

Kalinga Hewa Kumarage secured third place in the men's 400m, clocking 45.91.

Their impressive performances bolster their Olympic aspirations.
