A special event was reportedly held at the Victoria Parliament in Australia on 27 August to honour two iconic Sri Lankan music legends, Rookantha Goonatillake and Chandralekha Perera, for their outstanding contributions to the Sri Lankan music industry.

According to reports, as a token of appreciation and in recognition of their exceptional work, both artists were presented with special awards.

The event was attended by their daughters, Raini Charuka and Windy Goonatillake, also renowned music artists, who were presented with special awards.

Sanuka Wickramasinghe had also been presented with a special award, but he had unfortunately not made it to the event.

The event was hosted by Legislative Council Opposition Deputy Leader Evan Mulholland and attended by notable figures, including Opposition Leader John Pesutto and Richard Welch, MP.

This event had been organised by prominent Australian lawyer Shawn Mendis, who had played a pivotal role in bringing this celebration to life, media reports stated.

7 Zone Entertainment Ltd. had reportedly brought the artists to Australia and coordinated the event. The company is led by world-renowned Sri Lankan cricketer T.M. Dilshan, along with Thari Jayatillaka and Shehan De Silva.
