Cabinet approves feasibility study to ease Lotus Roundabout congestion

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to conduct a detailed feasibility study aimed at reducing traffic congestion around the Lotus Roundabout in Colombo.


The decision was taken following concerns that the area has become a major choke point during peak hours. Officials warned that congestion would worsen with the completion of the Colombo Port City, the Port Access Road, and other ongoing development projects.


The proposal, presented by the Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation, calls for selecting a consultancy agency through the procurement process to identify a sustainable solution.
