Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP)-led National People’s Power (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) Nilanthi Kottahachchi, who became well known following her statement that a JVP/NPP Government would bring back monies hidden in Uganda by the former Rajapaksa regime and later backtracked on the comments claiming that there were no monies hidden in Uganda, has faced an interesting incident when she had recently attended a cultural event. 

During the event, a woman dressed like and wearing the mask of Lenchina, a character in Sri Lankan folklore, had made her way towards the JVP/NPP MP and posed several questions to her in jest.

“Rata hadanavada? Rata kanavada? Venas karavida? Haal keeyada? Ugandawe hangapu salli genavada?” (Will the country be made or destroyed? Will there be change? How much is rice? Will the monies in Uganda be brought down?) were the questions that had been posed to Kottahachchi.

Kottahachchi had laughed and responded saying changes would definitely be made and that the monies in Uganda would be brought back soon. People watching this dialogue had also been quite entertained by it.
