Sri Lanka’s monthly national tea price average fell across elevations in April, declining by Rs. 17.01 from the tea price average of March, industry data shows.
The average price of a kilogram of tea was recorded at Rs. 1,166.
The tea price average for the month further fell by Rs. 50.10 from the same time period last year, with a Rs. 94.99 decline from the year-to-date national average recorded between January and April of 2024.
All elevations recorded declines in rupee terms compared to 2024. High growns fell by Rs. 43.78 from the month of March, and further fell by Rs. 56.29 in year-on-year terms.
Medium growns showed a slight increase of Rs. 1.73, but a decline in US dollars by 0.50. The elevation teas further saw a Rs. 9.89 decline in year-on-year terms too.
Low growns fell by Rs. 7.67, and recorded a Rs. 66.84 drop in year-on-year terms.
