Sri Lanka Customs (SLC) have arrested three Chinese nationals at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for alleged smuggling of mobile phones and batteries.

The suspects were intercepted at the Green Channel on arrival from Shanghai on China Eastern Airlines flight MU-6017.

Customs officers recovered 87 mobile phones and 140 batteries concealed in luggage, clothing and food items.

The estimated value of the items is around Rs. 5.14mn, and investigations are continuing.
