Three people in Sri Lanka die from breast cancer every day, according to the National Cancer Control Programme.
Around 6,000 new breast cancer cases are reported annually, with more than 1,000 patients dying from the disease each year.
Dr. Senaka Thalagala, Director of the National Cancer Control Programme, stressed the importance of early detection, timely treatment and regular follow-up.
He also urged people to seek medical attention as soon as possible if they notice symptoms.
