CBSL purchases net $ 70.8 m in forex in June

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) had purchased $ 96.3 million from the local foreign exchange market, and sold $ 25.8 million in the month of June, bringing the total net amount of dollars purchased by the reserve bank within the month to $ 70.8 million.

The details of its interventions in the domestic and foreign exchange markets were disclosed recently. This follows May 2026, which saw the largest single-month dollar sale by the Central Bank since the onset of Sri Lanka's economic crisis. In May, the bank recorded a net sale of $ 211.3 million, having sold $ 223.3 million and purchased $ 12 million during that month.
