The Ministry of Health (MOH) has warned of a possible increase in road accidents and drowning incidents during the upcoming Vesak long weekend.
Consultant Community Physician Samitha Siritunga said previous data shows a rise in such incidents during long holiday periods.
Health authorities also cautioned that rising water levels in rivers, reservoirs and other water bodies could increase drowning risks.
The public has been urged to take precautions while travelling and engaging in recreational activities.
