The Air Force and Army teams managed to qualify for the final yesterday (6) by recording victories in the women's semifinals of the National Volleyball Championship Super League held at the Dadella Volleyball House indoor stadium.
At the end of the preliminary round of the tournament, the Air Force team, which finished first in Group “A”, and the Hydramani team, which finished second position in Group “B”, competed in the first semifinal. The Army team, which finished top in Group “B”, competed against the Navy team who finished second in Group “A”.
In the first semifinal, the Air Force players managed to qualify for the final by recording a comfortable 3-0 win against the Hydramani team. In the second semifinal that followed, the Army team and the Navy team battled side by side. At the end of the first four rounds, both teams were tied 2-2. Despite this, the Army team won the decisive final round and managed to secure their place in the final.
The final match is scheduled to be held on 24 December at the Maharagama National Youth Service Council Indoor Stadium.
Meanwhile, the men's matches of the National Volleyball Championship Super League are scheduled to be held at the Dadella Volleyball House indoor stadium from today (7).
