Liquor stores to remain shut during election weekend

19 Sep 2024

The Department of Excise announced that prohibitions and restrictions will be imposed on the sale of liquor on 21 and 22 September, due to the 2024 presidential election.

Accordingly, during the election weekend, all retail liquor stores have been ordered to remain shut.

Tourist hotels and boutique villas with over a 3-star range are allowed to serve alcohol to their residing guests.

The Department further stated its hotline 1913 is open for public complaints on breach of excise laws, during said period.
