The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has ordered the issuance of open warrants for the arrest of Shamindra Rajapaksa, a former SriLankan Airlines board member and son of ex-Minister Chamal Rajapaksa, and Priyanka Niyomali Wijenayake, wife of former CEO Kapila Chandrasena.
The warrants stem from an investigation into the alleged Airbus aircraft deal.
Chief Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama directed that the warrants be circulated to all airports in Sri Lanka, with instructions to arrest the suspects upon their return to the country and inform the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
The Controller General of Immigration and Emigration has also been notified of the order.
