The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for severe lightning in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts from 12.15 p.m. to 11.00 p.m. today.

Thundershowers with intense lightning and temporary strong winds are likely.

The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimise damage and ensure safety.
