Commission appointed to probe Lanka Coal Company irregularities

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed a Commission of Inquiry to investigate alleged irregularities in the Lanka Coal Company.


The probe covers coal imports and electricity generation from the start of coal-based power until 16 April.


Gihan Kulatunga has been appointed as Chairman, with Aditya Patabandige and Sanjeeva Somaratne as members.


The Commission will examine procurement processes, possible use of substandard coal, financial losses, and identify those responsible.
