Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Member of Parliament (MP) was appointed as the Chairman of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on National Economic and Physical Plans unanimously on Tuesday (21) in Parliament.

The first meeting of the said Committee was held on Tuesday. Accordingly, MP Gunathilaka Rajapaksha, proposed the name of the Chair, and MP Dhammika Perera, seconded it.

As this committee deals with the monitoring of the economic policies implemented by the Government and the physical planning of the country, it is expected to be implemented without party bias, new Chairman Mahindananda Aluthgamage said.

Members of Parliament Eran Wickramaratne, Ashok Abeysinghe, Harshana Rajakaruna, and Sudath Manjula were also present at the Committee meeting held.
