15 Jul 2025 | BY Staff Writer

The Cabinet has approved the “Sri Lanka National Cyber Security Strategy 2025–2029,” a forward-looking plan prepared by the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) with World Bank support. It builds upon the first national strategy, implemented from 2019 to 2023.

The updated strategy focuses on 5 key areas: strengthening the legal and regulatory framework, enhancing cybersecurity awareness and education, improving national preparedness, expanding response capabilities, and increasing cooperation among stakeholders.

The strategy applies specifically to civilian sectors and is aimed at creating a safer, more resilient digital environment under the direction of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Digital Economy.
