More than 100 families in Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, and Galle have been affected by the ongoing adverse weather, with 585 individuals impacted and 111 houses partially damaged, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) reported.

The Department of Meteorology has issued an ‘Amber’ alert, warning of heavy rains exceeding 100mm in several provinces due to a low-level atmospheric disturbance. 

Showers or thundershowers are expected across most parts of the island, while the public is urged to take precautions against heavy rain, strong winds, and severe lightning.
