Synogen commissions rooftop solar project

09 Jan 2026

Synogen has commissioned one of Sri Lanka’s largest rooftop solar photovoltaic projects, a 6.4 MWp installation at the manufacturing facility of Best Pacific Textiles Lanka (BPTL) in Pannala.

The project, which is now fully operational, supplies a significant share of the factory’s daytime electricity demand, reducing reliance on the national grid and lowering carbon emissions in Sri Lanka’s export-oriented manufacturing sector.

Designed and implemented to international engineering and safety standards, the installation demonstrates the viability of deploying large-scale rooftop solar systems in complex industrial settings. The project involved structural assessments, electrical integration, and system optimisation to ensure long-term performance and operational reliability.

According to Synogen, the system is expected to generate several million kilowatt-hours of renewable energy annually, supporting BPTL’s energy efficiency and sustainability goals while strengthening resilience against grid volatility.

Synogen was established as a joint venture between the Sino Lanka Group and Atman, combining local execution capability with long-term investment expertise. The company focuses on delivering clean energy solutions across generation, storage, and intelligent energy management systems for commercial and industrial clients.

Beyond power generation, Synogen has developed an in-house energy monitoring and intelligence platform that provides real-time performance data, analytics, and predictive insights across deployed assets. The platform is supported by the company’s internal servicing teams and is designed to optimise system performance and minimise downtime.

The BPTL installation is expected to serve as a reference project for Sri Lanka’s industrial sector as manufacturers increasingly seek to balance energy costs, security, and sustainability requirements.
