Sri Lanka and Latvia have signed a landmark agreement enabling the transfer of sentenced persons between the two countries, strengthening bilateral legal and consular cooperation.
The accord was signed at the Sri Lankan High Commission in New Delhi by Latvian Ambassador Juris Bone and Sri Lankan High Commissioner Mahishini Colonne.
The agreement allows convicted individuals to serve their sentences in their home country, promoting rehabilitation and upholding humanitarian principles.
The Ministry of Justice and National Integration and Latvia’s Ministry of Justice will act as the central authorities for its implementation.
