It has been noted that a Bible, renamed as 'The Hallelujah Bible', is being given to those who donate a minimum of Rs 500,000 to Prophet Jerome Fernando's The Glorious Church as a 'reward' for their donations.
The Study Bible consists of 52 life lessons by the Prophet, and sources have revealed that the Bible cannot be purchased by just anyone, unless they have donated Rs 500,000 to the Church.
The Study Bible has sparked controversy by several Theologians who claim that Fernando has renamed the original 'Halleluyah Bible', which was originally published by Gideon Publishers, only to ensure that the Bible sells more effectively. The original study Bible by Gideon Publishers is distributed free of charge.
Critics have noted that several Bible verses have been quoted out of context and are used in the Life Lessons by the local Prophet in the study Bible.
The Morning has tried repeatedly to contact PJFM leaders to obtain either a copy of the Prophet's study Bible or inquire into the exorbitant price tag placed on the Bible, but efforts have proved futile.
Prophet Jerome Fernando hit the spotlight of local media when his 'Spiritual Father' Uebert Angel was exposed for money Laundering and gold smuggling by International News Agency Al Jazeera.
Angel, who was a Zimbabwean diplomat and second only to the President, was exposed by undercover journalists for trying to launder over a Billion dollars (dirty money) into Zimbabwe in exchange for Gold.
Meanwhile, locals in Sri Lanka are questioning Prophet Jerome Fernando's source of funds and lavish lifestyle, adding that the Prophet wears Tom Ford and Gucci clothing, while encouraging regular citizens to 'sacrificially sow' into the church/ministry in return for a Bible with a price tag of Rs 500,000.
