The Sri Lanka Coast Guard and Sri Lanka Navy have seized over 1,302 kg of Kendu leaves illegally smuggled into Sri Lanka by sea.

The operation was conducted near the Deduru Oya Bridge in Chilaw on 10 August, based on intelligence received by the Coast Guard.

Two dinghy boats and a box containing 60 bars of soap were also seized and handed over to the Biyagama Excise Special Operations Unit for further action.
