The Colombo Stock Exchange’s All Share Price Index (ASPI) decreased by 7.59% in July 2026, shedding 1,114.49 points to close at 21,129.21, while the S&P SL20 Index decreased by 3.98% to 5,939.98, according to the Senfin Securities Monthly Equity Update Report
Total monthly turnover for July 2026 was Rs 40,814 million, with an average daily turnover of Rs 1,940 million.
In terms of sector-wise stock gainers, NTB emerged as the top gainer within the Banking sector with a +8.45% increase. Sathosa Motors (SMOT) recorded a 78% gain in the Materials sector, while LOLC gained 5.77%, making it the highest gainer in the Diversified Financials sector.
In terms of Price-to-Earnings (P/E) ratios, the Banking sector traded at 5.13x, while the Consumer Services sector traded at 53.52x.
According to the Senfin Research Monthly Equity Report for July 2026, the Colombo Stock Exchange recorded ten significant block trades (crossings) during the month. Cargills (Ceylon) PLC (CARG) recorded two crossings on 20 and 21 July, with a combined turnover of Rs 2,808,366,750 (Rs 544,950,000 + Rs 2,263,416,750). UML recorded two crossings on 24 and 31 July, with a combined turnover of Rs 2,052,000,000 (Rs 1,026,000,000 on each date). John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH) recorded a crossing on 27 July at a price of Rs 19.80 per share, with a turnover of Rs 609,171,000.
On Wednesday The ASPI gained 84.86 points (0.40%) to close at 21,166.94, while the S&P SL20 Index advanced 8.15 points (0.14%) to end at 5,945.09. Total market turnover increased to Rs 8.48 billion, compared with Rs 2.96 billion in the previous session.
