The historic Richmond Castle in Kalutara, a site of significant archaeological and tourist interest, is set for essential renovations under a public-private partnership (PPP). 

Owned by the Department of Historical and Archaeological Heritage, the castle requires urgent repairs identified by the University of Moratuwa's Department of Archaeology and the Building Research Institute.

Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a proposal by the Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious, and Cultural Affairs Hiniduma Sunil Senevi to invite private sector investors for its restoration and upkeep, ensuring alignment with the original intent of the property’s testator.
