SLPP MP D.V. Chanaka has warned that electricity tariffs could increase if Sri Lanka does not receive sufficient rainfall in the coming period.

He stated that reduced hydropower generation could increase reliance on other power sources, adding to electricity generation costs.

Chanaka noted that any additional tariff increase would affect the public and the tourism industry.
