The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber Warning for heavy rain in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North Western and Southern provinces.

The warning was issued at 7 a.m. today (24) and will remain in effect until 7 a.m. tomorrow (25).

Heavy showers exceeding 100mm are likely at some locations. The public, particularly those in flood- and landslide-prone areas, has been advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
