The Cabinet has approved a proposal to restructure the Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology and the Sri Lanka Institute of Biotechnology to better align with national economic goals.

These institutions were originally established to promote research, technology transfer, and biotech exports, but reforms are now seen as essential to maximize their impact.

An expert committee will be appointed to review their operations and recommend changes to their legal structures and strategic plans.

The move aims to enhance Sri Lanka’s capabilities in nanotechnology and biotechnology to drive economic growth and innovation.
