The Irrigation Department has issued a Red Alert for the Attanagalu Oya Basin, warning of a major flood within the next six hours as water levels continue to rise.

Low-lying areas along Attanagalu Oya and Uruwal Oya, including Gampaha town, are at imminent risk.

Residents and travelers are urged to evacuate to safer locations immediately.

Disaster Management authorities have been directed to treat this as a top-priority emergency.

The warning is in effect until 3:00 PM on 30 November 2025.
