The U.S. Embassy in Colombo has issued a reminder to Sri Lankan travelers to adhere to U.S. visa regulations before visiting the United States.
In a statement, the Embassy clarified that a B1/B2 visitor visa allows activities such as attending business meetings and negotiating contracts.
It emphasized that engaging in employment or work-related activities requires a different visa category.
The Embassy warned that undertaking unauthorized employment while in the U.S. could lead to deportation and may result in a permanent ban from entering the country in the future.
Travellers are urged to ensure they have the correct visa for their intended activities.
