The Department of Meteorology says several spells of showers are expected today(12) in the Sabaragamuwa Province and the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Few showers are also likely in the Western and North Western provinces and the Galle and Matara districts, while afternoon or evening thundershowers may occur in parts of Uva, Ampara and Batticaloa.

Strong winds of 40–50 kmph are also expected at times in several areas, with the public advised to take precautions against strong winds and lightning.
