Probe launched into Ella Odyssey train tickets scam

Deputy Minister of Transport Prasanna Gunasena flagged a large-scale racket involving e-tickets for Ella Odyssey train services to Ella, with tickets selling out within 42 seconds of release.


The Deputy Minister revealed that racketeers buy tickets worth Rs. 2,000 and resell them to foreigners for as much as Rs.16,000, focusing on Colombo-Fort, Kandy, and Ella railway stations.


Accordingly, the Department of Railways is acting swiftly along with the Police, as a complaint was filed with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and suspicions were raised about a group with computer expertise orchestrating the scam. Yet the victims are reportedly reluctant aid legal action.
