The Department of Meteorology has warned that prevailing showery conditions are expected to continue over Northern and Eastern parts of the island due to the Easterly wave. 

Showers will occur at times in the North-Central, Eastern, Uva and Central provinces, with heavy falls above 100 mm likely in parts of the Eastern, Uva and Central provinces and Polonnaruwa district. 

Several spells of rain are expected in the Northern and North-Western provinces, while other areas may see showers or thundershowers after 1.00 p.m., with fairly heavy falls above 50 mm. 

Strong winds of 40–50 kmph and mist are also expected in several regions.
