The Royal-Thomian Golfers’ Guild recently announced the 55th Royal-Thomian Old Boys’ Golf Match, an iconic event that upholds a rich legacy of sporting excellence and spirited rivalry between Royal College and S. Thomas’ College.
Scheduled to take place on 16 March at the Royal Colombo Golf Club, this tournament stands as a celebration of camaraderie, competition, and the shared traditions of two of Sri Lanka’s most prestigious institutions.
For over five decades, this annual tournament has brought together generations of Royalists and Thomians, reinforcing the deep-rooted connection between the two schools while fostering a love for the sport of golf. What began as a gathering of old boys with a passion for golf has evolved into one of Sri Lanka’s most anticipated and celebrated golfing events, drawing both seasoned veterans and emerging talents from the alumni networks of both schools.
This year’s 55th edition promises to be nothing short of spectacular, as top golfers from both sides prepare to battle it out for glory.
Leading the Royal College team is Captain Wijitha Perera, alongside Vice Captain Gamini Jayaweera, while the S. Thomas’ College team will be spearheaded by Captain Deannath Kulatunga and Vice Captain Rohan Fernando. With these skilled competitors at the helm, the stage is set for an intense yet friendly contest that will once again showcase the Royal-Thomian spirit.
