A comprehensive Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion event took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from 5 to 6 April, 2026, featuring a Media Networking Session, a B2B Roadshow, and a Tour Operators Networking Evening.

Organized by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) in collaboration with the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Dhaka, the event was hosted at the Le Méridien Dhaka and aimed to strengthen tourism ties between the two countries.

According to the High Commission, the event successfully brought together key stakeholders from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh’s tourism industries, fostering new avenues for cooperation and collaboration. The initiative underscored the importance of building professional linkages to boost two-way tourist flows and promote shared economic growth.

The Media Networking Session on April 5 provided a vibrant platform for print, electronic, and digital media professionals from both nations to engage directly with tourism authorities and industry players. The session highlighted the vital role of media in promoting responsible, sustainable tourism, and in showcasing emerging investment opportunities within the sector.

On 6 April, the B2B Roadshow and Tour Operators Networking Evening facilitated interactions among leading tour operators, travel agents, and industry stakeholders.

This setting aimed to reinforce strategic partnerships, promote joint tourism initiatives, and encourage continued B2B engagement, with the ultimate goal of increasing tourism exchanges between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

The High Commission emphasized the critical role of tour operators and travel agents as intermediaries that shape destination perceptions, curate travel experiences, and facilitate seamless travel.

Their efforts support the promotion of diverse tourism segments, including leisure, MICE, wellness, cultural, and emerging health tourism, while also enabling group travel, corporate exchanges, and business visits thus broadening economic and tourism linkages.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh share a long-standing relationship rooted in cultural, historical, and economic ties.

Tourism has emerged as a vital sector strengthening these bonds, with Sri Lanka increasingly recognized as a preferred destination among Bangladeshi travelers. In 2025, over 59,000 Bangladeshis visited Sri Lanka, reflecting the island nation's reputation as a safe, welcoming, and attractive destination.
