The “Dinana Dakuna” collective has opposed the Cabinet-approved proposal to amend the Constitution and Judicature Act No. 2 of 1978.

The collective claimed that the proposed reforms, presented as measures to improve judicial efficiency, could undermine the independence of the judiciary.

It also expressed concern that expanding the number of judges and Court of Appeal hearings at provincial level could serve political interests.
