The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning for rough sea conditions and strong winds over the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea for the next three days.
Wind speeds are expected between 40–50 km/h, with temporary increases up to 60 km/h, the Met. Department said.
Showers and thundershowers are expected in coastal sea areas from Puttalam to Colombo, Galle and Hambantota, with islandwide evening rainfall in several regions.
The southwest monsoon is gradually establishing, bringing heavy showers in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces, and selected districts.
The public has been advised to take precautions against lightning and strong winds.
