Police have arrested a 65-year-old businessman in Madampe over the alleged sexual abuse of a five-year-old girl.

The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by the child’s mother, according to police.

The girl has been admitted to Chilaw General Hospital and referred for a medical examination.

The suspect is due to be produced before the Chilaw Magistrate’s Court, while investigations continue.
