In view of the upcoming Sinhala and Hindu New Year, the Sri Lanka Transport Board has announced that buses will be deployed today (13) based on passenger demand for those travelling from Colombo to outstation areas.

SLTB Chairman Sanjeewa Kanagaratne said a decrease in outbound passenger numbers was observed by yesterday evening, after several days of increased travel. Around 1,500 additional buses had been prepared in recent days to support the festive rush.

He added that special bus services will be arranged tomorrow (14) from regional depots for New Year travel.

Meanwhile, the National Transport Commission stated that buses will continue to operate based on passenger demand over both days.

The Sri Lanka Railways announced that train services will be limited today and tomorrow due to reduced passenger numbers. However, express, mail, and intercity services from Colombo will operate as usual.

Special train services have also been arranged between Colombo and areas such as Polgahawela, Avissawella, Puttalam, and Galle, along with return services.
