Seeking action against Chaminda

A group of ruling Sri Lanka Podujana Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) parliamentarians has handed over a letter to Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena against Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Parliamentarian Chaminda Wijesiri.

Accordingly, 24 Government parliamentarians had handed over the letter demanding action against Wijesiri to the Speaker on Monday (13).

Wijesiri has been accused of levelling false and malicious accusations against Assistant Secretary General of Parliament Hansa Abeyratne.

The letter has reportedly noted that under parliamentary powers and privileges, it is an offence punishable by Parliament or the Supreme Court to attack, oppose, or interfere in affairs of a Parliament official within the parliamentary premises.
