In a recent conversation with The Morning, Greenstat Lanka Hydrogen Chairman Sturle H. Pedersen shed light on the potential impact of the partnership between Greenstat and Lanka Ashok Leyland, which seeks to transform Sri Lanka's transportation sector through the innovative use of Green Hydrogen power.

Pedersen emphasised that the primary goal of this collaboration extends beyond mere carbon emission reduction—it aspires to carve a path towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future for the nation.

According to Pedersen, the collaborative effort will kick off with a comprehensive feasibility study. This study will rigorously assess the viability of introducing green hydrogen-powered buses and trucks within Sri Lanka's existing transport infrastructure. By integrating fuel cell technology and identifying hydrogen transport corridors, the project envisions establishing an expansive network that fosters eco-friendly mobility solutions.

At the core of this initiative lies the production of green hydrogen power derived from renewable energy sources such as wind, hydro, and solar installations. Pedersen highlighted that by tapping into these resources, the partnership aims to significantly curtail carbon emissions, effectively raising the bar for sustainable transportation practices in the region.

With Greenstat's expertise in renewable energy sourcing and technical proficiency coupled with Lanka Ashok Leyland's extensive experience in the transport sector, the partnership is poised to navigate the bureaucratic landscape and set the stage for a transformative shift towards a cleaner and more ecologically resilient transport ecosystem.
