The United States has underscored the strategic importance of the Port of Colombo in regional and global trade.

In a post on X, Sergio Gor said the port serves as a vital hub connecting South Asia to global markets, highlighting the importance of maritime security.

He noted that the US–Sri Lanka partnership is focused on ensuring secure and transparent trade, improving port efficiency, and protecting supply chains, with direct benefits for global commerce.
