The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) reported that 3,712 Sri Lankans left for jobs in South Korea during 2025.
On 16 December, 54 youths, including six women, departed on SriLankan Airlines flight UL 470 for the manufacturing sector, forming the 939th batch of workers.
The SLBFE noted a growing trend of young women seeking employment, with 132 departing for South Korea this year.
Under an MoU with the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, workers are employed under the E‑9 visa in manufacturing,
construction, fisheries, agriculture and services, with a stay of up to 4 years and 10 months.
