More than 10 people have been hospitalised following a multi-vehicle crash on the Southern Expressway between the Gelanigama and Dodangoda interchanges.

The accident occurred when a bus carrying schoolchildren collided with a cab, causing several vehicles behind it to crash.

Two buses and six cars were involved in the accident.

Police have diverted vehicles travelling from Galle to Colombo through the Dodangoda exit.
