The Irrigation Department has issued a minor flood warning for the upper and middle reaches of the Gin Ganga and Nilwala river basins following heavy rainfall.

Low-lying areas within the Gin Ganga valley, including Neluwa and Akmeemana, and the Nilwala basin areas such as Pasgoda and Akuressa, could experience flooding over the next 24 hours.

The Rajanganaya and Angamuwa Reservoirs have opened spill gates due to rising water levels. 

The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has updated its landslide warnings for nine districts. 

The Meteorology Department forecasts more heavy showers, possibly exceeding 100 mm, in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern Provinces. Residents and motorists are urged to be vigilant.
