Grade 5 scholarship tutor Hyeshika Fernando, also known as ‘Teacher Amma’, appeared before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court today (14) over an alleged assault incident.

Fernando was wanted for reportedly assaulting a young man, resulting in his hospitalization on 10 May.

She had initially fled the area, while her husband and manager were arrested by the Katana Police and also produced in court.

All 5 suspects, including Fernando, were granted bail.

The victim’s relatives and supporters staged a silent protest outside the court premises.
