A special discussion was held to strengthen Sri Lanka’s sports tourism sector and develop the country as a destination for international sporting events.

The discussion focused on attracting state and private sector sponsorships and preparing an annual calendar for sports competitions and festivals.

Plans were also discussed to establish a destination management office to coordinate approvals from relevant government institutions and streamline the organisation of sports events.
