President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has instructed officials to expedite the completion of projects aimed at increasing passenger capacity at Katunayake International Airport and improving facilities for passengers.

The President also emphasised that, alongside the development of Katunayake Airport, other domestic airports across the country should be developed to meet future requirements.

The President made these remarks while participating in a discussion on the 2027 Budget proposals relating to the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation, held at the Presidential Secretariat Tuesday (27).

The progress of projects related to the development of Katunayake Airport was reviewed, along with measures to further expand infrastructure, including road networks, in line with the airport’s development.

Special attention was also given to the current progress of projects aimed at increasing passenger capacity at Katunayake Airport and other airports across the country, as well as developing airport facilities to provide greater convenience for air travellers.
