Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya noted that Sri Lanka must shape the future of artificial intelligence through policy, ethics and inclusive governance.
She made the remarks at the launch of the AI Policy Framework for State Universities held at the University of Colombo on 08 May.
The initiative, led by the University Grants Commission with support from the U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka, aims to guide the responsible use of AI in state universities.
The Prime Minister also stressed the need to prevent AI from deepening inequalities in education and highlighted the importance of building local research expertise and inclusive learning environments.
